Police in Kithimani Ward, Yatta Sub-County have launched operations to flash out criminal gangs that have been terrorising residents in the region.
Addressing journalists in his office on Thursday, Kithimani Administration Police boss Johnston Anguya said they have launched a man hunt to nab the gang members.
The police boss said they suspect the gang might have been involved in the recent rape and robbery cases that have been reported in Kinanie and Muthwani locations.
“There are groups of young men who move around the villages at night and break into houses where they attack the residents with pangas and rape women. We partnered with some concerned residents and launched a crackdown this morning,” he said.
Anguya asked the Nyumba Kumi committees in the villages to cooperate with the security personnel and expose strange people found idling in the village.
“We are appealing to members of the public to share any information concerning the thugs with the area chief or any nearest police station,” said the officer.
The police boss also warned residents against shielding the criminals saying that they will be arrested and arraigned in court.
Anguya said the police are set to conduct the raids starting tonight (Thursday).
