Speaking to the road users mainly drivers and business people on Friday, they termed the constant scrutiny of the state of the road as a political fight by the Governor Alfred Mutua's political competitors.

Speaking to Joseph Musai a businessman who operates along the Mwala-Kithimani road, he trashed claims that the road is in a bad stated as mere rumours.

"It is not true that the road is in a bad state because I use less than half an hour, it's even in a much better condition than many roads in our country," said Musai.

Speaking also to Evans Muli a driver of Makata Sacco PSV, he stated that he appreciated the road constructed under Governor Mutuas' leadership in comparison to the previous state of the road.

"People who are bad mouthing the road are the former politicians who left the road in a bad state. I used to take almost three hours to Makutano but of late I make more trips as it takes a very short time. The road is in perfect shape," said Muli.

According to residents of Kithimani, the road has been of great help both business wise and in transport side as movement is reliable.

Most residents praise the state of the road stating one needs to know the state of the road previously to appreciate the current highway state.

The road has been criticised with a series of pictures of its alleged bad state circulating on social media.

However, the same has been trashed by Governor Alfred Mutua as mere political propaganda and fake photos being circulated by his political enemies.

The residents have however requested the county government to renovate the old Makutano-Machakos road.

Many residents have attributed the good state of the road to the numerous number of public vehicles operation along the Kithimani-Makutano road.
