Needy students from West Mugirango Constituency are set to receive more funds after a decision to increase the allocation to their kitty was agreed on.
According to the chairperson of the constituency education fund in West Mugitango, Daniel Mokunyo the move is geared towards making sure the needy get more funds and quality education.
He said currently the needy students have already received the first tranche of bursaries where 212 university and college students have benefited from a total of Sh5,790,000.
The kitty issued cheques to respective institutions of higher learning in favour of students from all communities residing in the cosmopolitan constituency who attained grade C and above in Kenya certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In a function at Kebirigo, the area MP James Gesami said he would make sure that those who receive the money are strictly needy and also have registered a good performance in their respective institutions, to enable them continue with their education.
He called upon those who will benefit from the kitty to ensure that they work hard so that they can help the community in the future.
