Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly George Ndotto has condemned critics bashing NASA deputy leader Kalonzo Musyoka for skipping Raila Odinga’s Tuesday swearing in as the People’s President at Uhuru Park.

Ndotto said the criticism Kalonzo is receiving is uncalled for, stating that his absence at Raila’s fete was not planned for.

In a briefing with journalists at his county assembly office on Thursday, Ndotto said Kalonzo is remorseful and should be given time to explain what happened instead of being abused and ashamed on social media.

He said Kalonzo is a principled man and could not have abandoned Raila willingly at the hour of need.

“People should stop these embarrassing and shameful criticism and give Kalonzo time to explain what happened,” Ndotto said.

Ndotto said he believes Jubilee administration might have had a hand on the former Vice President's absence at the inauguration ceremony.

He said Jubilee might have employed ugly tactics to prevent Kalonzo from accompanying Raila to Uhuru Park for the inauguration.

Ndotto said  as Kitui politicians they have faith in Kalonzo’s leadership stating he is among the few loyal people in the country.

“We will stand with Kalonzo because we believe in his explanation and innocence,” he added.

Kalonzo has been under sharp criticism for skipping Raila’s swearing in at the last minute.

The Wiper leader  alongside Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula disappeared minutes to Raila’s inauguration.

The three leaders have however defended their absence insisting that they are still committed to NASA’s electoral reforms agenda.

On Thursday, Raila, Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula addressed the media at OKOA Kenya offices where they pledged to continue working together.

Kalonzo who was captured on camera weeping said that he is ready to take oath as Raila’s deputy any time.

The opposition leaders condemned the government crackdown on some of their leaders over the Tuesday swearing in.Raila asked the police to go for him since he is the one who took oath and live ‘innocent’ NASA politicians alone.
