Kitui speaker George Ndotto has assured the members of the County Assembly that he will deliver on his mandate diligently and without fear or favor. The lawmaker said that the county assembly will remain an Independent institution under his watch.
He noted that it is only through independence that the MCAs will deliver on the promises they made to the people of their respective wards when they were campaigning before the August elections.
The speaker was addressing MCA’s when he was sworn in for the second term in office. He further said that there should be clear separation of power among different arms of the government to encourage economic and social development.
“There will be no confusion whatsoever between the duties of the executive and the duties of the assembly,” he said, as quoted.
In the meantime, MCAs have also assured votes that they will deliver their mandate. The leaders have promised to promote an oversight role during the next five years. The MCAs in collaboration with incumbent Governor Charity Ngilu are expected to draft laws that will transform the lives of the residents on the next five year term.
