The Kitui Youth Movement (KYM) members said Kalonzo is no longer politically relevant.

Addressing the press in Kitui town on Wednesday, KYM chairperson Moses Munyalo said Kalonzo is politically exhausted hence should quit and leave room for young promising leaders.

He said the former Vice President has done nothing meaningful for the Kamba community for the decades he has served in government and various leadership positions.

“Kalonzo Musyoka has outlived his political usefulness and should retire and leave room for young leaders,” Munyalo said.

Munyalo said Ukambani has lagged behind in terms of development because of Kalonzo’s political blunders.

Rubbishing Kalonzo’s Monday endorsement as the Kamba presidential candidate in 2022, the youths said the former Vice President will lose miserably if he contests in the 2022 polls.

They claimed that Kalonzo no longer has numbers and political support base.

“We don’t recognize the Monday's Ukambani leaders' unity meeting because we were not consulted,” Munyalo said.

Kalonzo was endorsed for presidency in 2022 elections by a section of Kamba leaders during the Ukambani Leaders Unity Forum at Koma in Matungulu, Machakos County.

The meeting attended by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and  her Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana also gave a nod to Kalonzo’s involvement in national unity and reconciliation process.

Machakos governor Alfred Mutua snubbed the meeting terming it fake.
