Police bosses in Kitutu Chache North constituency have been accused of sleeping on their job.
Area Member of Parliament Jimmy Angwenyi on Sunday said he will not sit and watch police relaxing in their job allowing criminals to terrorize innocent people.
“I will not allow lazy police bosses who will not direct their juniors to work. It is either they deliver or I will push for their removal from the region because what I want is security beefed up to protect lives of people and their properties,” he said.
The National Assembly Deputy Majority leader promised to work closely with the Ministry of Interior to ensure crime ends in the region.
“I won’t be scared putting pressure on Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i to send experienced police officers ready to work towards ending crime in Kitutu Chache North. Locals should cooperate and report any lazy police officer to be removed from the area,” he said.
The lawmaker blamed police officers for increased making and selling of illicit liquor in the area.
“Police have been colluding with illicit brew dealers by asking bribes from the brewers to allow them to operate. Such security officers frustrating the government’s efforts to end illegal business dealings will not be allowed to serve in the region. It will be a war between me and the lazy security officers,” said the Jubilee MP.
He was speaking at Nyakongo market on Sunday.
