Speaking on Monday at Gusii Stadium during the inauguration of the Kisii county flag Onyonka opposed the referendum aimed at amending the constitution.

The MP claimed the referendum will require a lot of money hence need to shelve the agenda for now.

“I want you to get me clear, I vehemently support the okoa Kenya agenda but I oppose the referendum,” said Onyonka.

He called on Kisii County MPs to support governor Ongwae, in order to realise development in the county.

“I urge my colleagues in the National Assembly to support the governor to implement his manifesto. Wrangles will not help us,” said Ongwae.

MP Onyonka condemned those inciting the business community to protest over the Kisii Finance Act 2014.

He instead urged them to raise their concerns at preliminary stage during public participation forums.
