The seminar has been organised by area MP Timothy Bosire in collaboration with county government and will focus on improvement of yields from minimal investment.

Mr Bosire’s personal assistant, Justus Omiti, on Wednesday said the area leadership had invited experts in various farming activities to teach farmers on productive farming.

“We all understand that farming is the main economic and income generating activity in this region. Because of the same, I can confirm that we will be having guests from different parts of the world to sensitise farmers on how to get optimum yields,” he said.

“Our MP has donated Sh200,000 to kick start the programme while the county government has pledged support on this noble idea,” he said.

Omiti said the exercise will be done annually, urging farmers to invest in modern farming as a way of increasing their income.

“This exercise is here to stay. We will be carrying it out after every year as a way of sensitising farmers on the new technology that can be used to get optimum yields,” Omiti said.

Nyamira County is home to large-scale tea farming with maize, beans, dairy farming and poultry farming also practised widely.
