Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire is hopeful that his constituents will re-elect him in 2017 based on the development realised in the region during his first tenure.
Kitutu Masaba constituency is historically known for not re-electing its leaders apart from the legendary George Anyona, renowned for his strong opposition to both -residents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi.
Speaking on Friday in Gesima, Bosire cited his development in education and infrastructure, while urging residents to shun clan politics.
“I am confident that my development record will earn me a second term. We have built schools and even constructed roads apart from initiating progress in a number of hospitals,” he said.
“What Kitutu Masaba lacked before is open leadership and I think I have restored it. I plead with us to shun clan politics and embrace brotherhood in our political engagement. This is the only way we can thrive as a community,” said the ODM national Treasurer.
The outspoken MP is facing fierce competition from Nairobi lawyer Shadrack Mose and philanthropist Victor Swanya in his re-election bid.
Bosire clinched the Kitutu seat in 2013 after beating veteran politician and Jomo Kenyatta Foundation chairman Walter Nyambati.
Nyambati has now set his eyes on the governorship post in the 2017 elections.
