Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire insists that embattled Kenya businessman Don Bosco Gichana would be released soon even as reports emerged that the ODM party was planning a grand reception for the IT guru.
Gichana was arrested and jailed in an Arusha prison in Tanzania over alleged money laundering and fraud four years ago, and opposition leader Raila Odinga has been on the front line pushing for his release.
In an interview with this reporter on Monday, the ODM national Treasurer appealed to the family members to ‘wait a bit’ as plans for his release were underway.
“I know what it takes for a family to wait for all these years. Gichana is our son and we know he is innocent. The family should wait a bit since talks on his release are at a high level involving dignitaries,” he said.
“It was a multinational case and that is why we have experienced a lot of delays but believe me, it’s just a matter of days or even a month before we secure his freedom,” he said.
On a planned grand reception, Bosire maintained that friends of the embattled businessman were at liberty to receive him.
“He is a friend of the party so even if we are planning grand reception, I don’t see anything bad in that. The most important thing is that he comes back home,” he said.
