Speaking while donating relief food to famine stricken families in Lare Division, Kiuna said that to achieve lasting peace in the region, it is important for the government to ensure that hate mongers in the region are dealt with in line with the law.

“I support the ongoing operation in Kapedo. Police investigations should zero in on local politicians so that those who incite the public into violence can also be brought to book. It is very sad to see innocent Kenyans and security officers die in the hands of bandits while line of duty,'' said Kiuna.

Kiuna also dismissed calls to hold the Pesa Mashinani referendum saying that the government has already put in place measures to ensure that cash allocation to counties is increased.

More than 100 families drawn from Nessuit, Mauche and Lare areas benefited from relief food that included cooking oil, maize and unimix.
