Njoro MP Josepeh Kiuna has vowed to fight illicit brew at Mwisho wa Lami in Njoro citing that administrative function in the area has been compromised.

Addressing his constituents in Njoro on Tuesday, the MP said that he will ensure illicit brew in Mwisho wa Lami will be a thing of the past.

“I am ready to lose my seat but if I will lose it and end this menace, I will have achieved. Those selling the brew better brace up for a tough battle between me and them,” he charged.

Kiuna said that he has been disheartened by reports from his constituents that their husbands and sons have become stooges after investing their money in drinking illicit liquor in Mwisho wa Lami.

He said that administrative functions in Njoro were compromised and did nothing but hurdle the war against illicit brew.

Kiuna narrated that some chiefs in the area were in cahoots with illicit brewers and would snitch on the public and the MP.

“Some chiefs who were in cahoots with the brewers would go and tell them that Kiuna is coming. They would hide the stuff and when we get there, would find nothing and that is why we still have illicit brew here,” he narrated.

Residents of Njoro pledged to support him and said that they will call for the interdiction of any administrative officer found to abet sale of illicit liquor in Njoro constituency.
