Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has called off a two-day official tour of the Coast region following the death of Joseph Nkaissery.
According to Kiunjuri, he could not proceed with the exercise following the death of his colleague.
He was Tana River County distributing relief food and implementing drought mitigation programme.
Kiunjuri said he learnt of the demise of Nkaissery with great shock.
“Truly this country has lost a great Kenyan who was dedicated to his duty,’’ he said.
Kiunjuri said the former Interior CS served with him as MP for 10 years, later as Assistant Minister and now they were together in the same cabinet.
“He was committed, believed in the course of this country and in his duty, he would give advice however harsh it would be,’’ he said.
He further recalled his last moments with Nkaissery where he said the deceased asked him to tuck in his shirt.
“He was shocked that I was in his office and had not tucked in my shirt, Nkaissery would always tuck in his shirt,’’ he said.
The distribution exercise has been called on untill further notice.
