Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has finally responded to reports that a student accused of setting fire to a Moi Girls' dormitory is her daughter.
On Friday, Kiunjuri denied the allegations doing rounds on social media.
A form one student has been charged in court over the September 2 fire that led to the death of 10 students.
The CS said he does not have a daughter in the school.
"I have been made aware of this totally false, ill-intentioned and hurtful rumor that the girl who is alleged to have burnt the Moi Girls' dormitory is my daughter. She is not," said Kiunjuri.
He said that those propagating the rumor were being cruel to victims families.
"It is cruel to the families that lost their loved ones to create these kinds of unfounded rumors when their wounds are still this raw.," he added.
He wants the people behind the rumor to apologise to the families.
