Speaking while addressing senators and MCAs at the County Assemblies Forum in Mombasa, Kiunjuri said that devolution has made it possible for resources to reach the common citizen at the grassroots unlike in the past where everything was being done at the national level.

The cabinet secretary said that the government has managed to make huge strides as far as devolution is concerned, despite meeting some challenges along the way.

"Devolution was introduced in the country three years ago and as such we can not say that we are doing badly. Through devolution, we have managed to set up hospitals, schools and roads in areas which were previously marginalised,” said Kiunjuri.

The CS said it was upon everyone to ensure devolution becomes a success, and called on county leaders to carry out their roles effectively.
