Agriculture CS nominee Mwangi Kiunjuri has now promised Kenyans that he will soon bring down the cost of maize flour.

The CS who made his first public appearance at St Mathew Catholic Church in Laikipia said that it is time actions surpass talks adding that his main goal is to make the country food secure by increasing acreage of cultivated land within the nation.

He said he will make this a reality by providing irrigation water to arid and semi-arid areas as well as partner with agriculture stakeholders to provide farmers with quality and fast high yielding seeds.

Kiunjuri made these remarks after Laikipia Senator John Kinyua challenged him to make sure cost of maize flour reduces to Sh80 per two-kg- packet.

Kinyua said Kenyans are suffering and with President Uhuru appointing Kiunjuri as one leader who will spearhead his four-agenda (food security), he should toil to see this is met.

However, Kiunjuri vowed to make this happen within the shortest time possible and asked leaders to shun from divisive politics and instead concentrate on making Kenya better.

The two accompanied by other Laikipia leaders had attended a fundraiser in aid of the construction of a Mji wa Wazee in Nanyuki spearheaded by the Catholic church priests.
