The Kiuu Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) has cautioned residents of Githurai 45 in Kiambu County over taking law into their own hands.
This comes following the incident where four teenagers were almost set a blaze by an angry mob after one of them was caught stealing a mobile phone from a lady at progressive in Githurai 45 and the other gang members were retrieved from their homes.
he area MCA, Margaret Mwago said that it was very wrong for the residents to take law into their own hands.
She said that they should have taken the teenagers to the nearest police station to face the law and investigations to be carried out.
She added that harming the children may not have been the best solution as being taken to the right authority could have ensured that they are taken to rehabilitation Centers which are in Kiambu County and turned to be better and responsible members of the public.
“I condemn the act of forming gangs instead of concentration on their education to better their lives and the residents’ act of trying to torch such young men,” said the MCA.
She added that religion will also impact a lot in a child’s growth and therefore they should be taken to religious centers to mold them character wise and spiritually.
