Kivumbini MCA Otieno Okello has pledged his commitment in the constructing of a dispensary in the area a midst ensuing land ownership controversy between parents and teachers of Kivumbini Primary School and his office.
Okello while speaking to the press on Thursday afternoon said that the piece of land which boarders the school and which has a building which is currently used as a classroom by the pupils has been earmarked for the construction of a dispensary by the county government.
"We have already set aside Kshs. 10 million for the construction of the health service utility after consultation with the county government therefore, nobody will stop us from establishing this project that will help attend to health issues affecting women and children in this region," Okello stated.
The building in the half acre land is said to be previously under the custody of the old Nakuru Municipal Council before the school turned it into a classroom. However, the MCA said that the decision to put up the facility was agreed upon by the community members before they located bare pieces of land belonging to the old Municipal Council.
"After the community elders had identified this area, I set aside the amount for the construction. We have all the letters notifying the school to vacate the land and the building to allow for the construction of the dispensary and as we speak; the contractors have begun their work," Okello said.
The area MCA also said that efforts of the police to solve the problem were futile and called upon the police who were asked by the school management to stop the construction of the project to allow them continue with the construction process.
