They said the problem was identified as early as 2005 when the Bondeni drainage was enjoined to the Burma one making the pressure unbearable.

Edward Kamau who operates a stall at Burma market said the issue has become a health hazard.

"This drainage system has become a health hazard and even working here is unbearable,"said Kamau.

His sentiments were echoed by a Mr Ouma who runs a Jua Kali stall in the market.

According to him, the main drainage has a problem since it feeds into a smaller one.

When contacted over the matter, area MCA Vitalis Okello said the matter will be solved.

He added that in the financial year 2016/2017 a total of Sh500,000 has been set aside for the renovation and expansion of the drainage system.
