Senator Lenny Kivuti has dared Wiper Party Leader and former Vice president Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka to incite a group of squatters from the Mwea settlement scheme.
Speaking at the Embu Stadium during the Jamhuri Day rally, Kivuti cautioned Kalonzo against setting his foot in the region to Marshall Squatters so that they can protest against the administration for failing to allocate them land.
According to Kivuti, he is aware of Kalonzo plans to tour the region with other leaders to mobilize the group to protest. The senator further condemned an incident in which the squatters held demonstrators. The protests led to the destruction of property whose value is yet to be disclosed including a bridge in the region.
The residents have been complaining after being left out in the issuance of 54,000 acres of land that had been set aside for them. The politicians noted that Mwea has close to 7000 squatters and 2400 of them have already been allocated land by the government.
This comes a week after Wiper leader faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for doing little to settle the squatters in the area despite making promises to do so during political rallies in the region.
