The Runyenjes lawmaker has made public her interest for the Embu governor's seat and had been enjoying Kivuti's support.

On Sunday, however, rowdy youths belonging to Mbarire's camp disrupted a fundrive with claims that Kivuti had launched his bid for the governor's seat, which they called betrayal to their MP.

The more than thirty youths chanted pro-Mbarire songs in the fundrive for musicians in Karurumo, immediately after Mbarire had finished addressing the crowd and called the senator to speak.

He tried to calm the youths in vain, alleging that it was Mbarire who had planned it all.

Ms Mbarire in turn was provoked, rushed to the podium trying to snatch the microphone from Kivuti prompting the police to intervene since it was escalating to a fist-fight.

“You can’t come here to abuse me in front of my people yet we have allowed you to be our chairman. I will not allow you to do it,” said Ms Mbarire.

The two politicians did not even contribute for the Harambee, they hurriedly left going in different directions.
