Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company(KIWASCO) has found a new managing director after the long-serving boss David Onyango left the company.
Onyango had served the company for 11 years since 2006 but indicated he will not renew his contract.
In a press release, Chairman Israel Agina said KIWASCO Board has granted the outgoing MD his wish and he has proceeded on terminal leave starting December 8, 2017.
The KIWASCO board has celebrated Onyango as a man who brought commendable progress to the company during his term as the managing director.
“His successful introduction and expansion of Delegated Management Model (DMM), a service platform for water supply to the informal settlements contributed significantly to the elimination of frequent outbreaks of water-borne diseases as was the norm previously,” said Agina.
Although the outgoing MD has improved on service delivery, close to 60 percent of the Lakeside residents living in informal settlements still have the problem of access to clean water and sewerage services despite living near Lake Victoria, considered to be Africa’s fresh watermass.
