The Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) has donated equipment worth Sh1 million to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation in Tudor, Mombasa.

Speaking during the presentation of the equipment, KMA acting director general Cosmas Cherop called upon county governments across the nation to support special needs centres as the nation looks forward to achieving vision 2030.

Cherop urged county governments to create special kitties for financing special needs centers.

He said helping children affected with this health condition motivates different parties including parents, relatives and teachers

“When we touch these wonderful lives, we put a smile on their faces. We inspire parents, teachers, caregivers and friends to treasure, respect and mentor children with cerebral palsy to achieve their dreams in unique and unimaginable ways,” said Cherop, as quoted by The Star.

He further asked different stakeholders not to isolate children with special needs in various aspects of life.

Celebral Palsy cases, which refer to various neurological conditions that tend to affect one’s movement as well as coordination, are very common in most parts of Kenya.

The foundation was also presented with Sh270, 000 by the Shariff Nassir Foundation.
