He said the complex once complete, will host government offices including KMA’s departmental offices.The Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) is set to establish a Sh1.8 billion mega complex in Mbaraki, Mombasa.Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony in Mombasa on Friday, Transport CS James Macharia said the complex once complete, will host government offices including KMA’s departmental offices.“The complex will host KMA employees, foreign consulates, some government ministries, departments and agencies as well as the region’s preeminent maritime professionals,” said Macharia, as quoted by the Standard.On his part, KMA Acting Director General, Cosmas Cherop, said the development of KMA will see Kenya develop both economically and socially.“It also signifies KMA’s commitment to progress Kenya’s maritime industry by optimizing the country’s maritime resources and potential for the social-economic benefits of all Kenyans,” said Cherop.The 15-storey office complex, which will have an observatory level and a helipad, will be constructed by EPCO Builders Limited.The Authority said it sourced the money locally from its own reserves.
