Kenya Medical Association (KMA)  has urged the Ministry of Health to ensure all centers offering internship have hostels for doctors.

KMA Eldoret Division Chairman Dr. Joseph Abuya said this will ensure the safety of doctors across the Country while conducting their duties.

"In the 80 centers accredited to offer internship programs across the Country, the government should build hostels for doctors for them to stay in the hospitals so that in case of emergency they can easily be reached," he said in Eldoret town Monday.

"It will also guarantee security to our doctors who have often been attacked by criminals while others killed in their line of duty," he added.

He, however, condemned the recent killing of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, intern and urged the police to bring to book those involved in his murder.

"We want to know the murderers and their intentions. We now feel our lives are in danger and if called upon to attend to a patient it's easy for us to ignore in fear of our security," he added.
