The KMPDU has addressed a letter to Tanzania asking them to delay the deployment of their doctors to Kenya for two months.

According to KTN News, The Kenyan Doctors’ representatives argued that a foreign country should not deploy its doctors to Kenya before the government signs two crucial documents- Return to work formula and the collective bargain agreement.

Amidst possibilities that the doctors who took part in the strike being locked out of their payment, talks of an agreement between the Kenya and Tanzania seem to be taking place concerning employing foreign doctors.

According to the health CS the foreign doctors would be offered two to three year contracts if they were to be employed in local hospitals.

“We do not have any problems with our counterparts in Tanzania. We have been in communication with the Medical Association in Tanzania,”Dr OumaOluga said.

“They received the news of the employment with as much shock as we did,” he continued.

According to him, both Kenya and Tanzania have worrying doctor to patient ratios with Tanzania appearing to be worse off than Kenya.

The surgeon maintained that there was no bad blood between doctors from both countries. He howeverclaimed that the decision to employ doctors a week after the strike smells of mischief.
