The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) through their Secretary General Ouma Oluga has demanded that County governments pay the December salaries to doctors.
“In the past six months, doctors have not been earning salaries in various counties; so we are not perturbed” Oluga said in a statement during the new year eve.
“Counties have also been delaying salaries, so let them keep the salaries for us. But they will pay all of it," he added.
More than seven counties including Mombasa, Bomet, Kwale, Siaya, Nakuru, Nairobi and another one the union is yet to disclose have reportedly not paid doctors for the month of December which has been dominated by an industrial action by the medics.
Doctors are on strike currently on its second month, demanding for the implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that they signed with the Ministry of Health in 2013.
