Handing out the judgement, Judge Hellen Wasilwa gave the union officials a two week window to negotiate with the government and end the strike, failure to which they will be jailed for a month.

The judge ruled on the contempt of court case after giving the KMPDU officials a chance to explain why they should not be punished.

The officials were forced to appear before the court after judge Wasilwa issued a warrant of arrest against them.

This was after they refused to appear in court for sentencing after being found guilty of disobeying a court order to end the ongoing strike.
