Speaking on Hot 96 FM morning show on 5th March, Dr. Oroko said that the wrong operations and the rape cases are just a tip of an iceberg and there are other deep-rooted issues that the public does not have an idea of.

Some of the issues include deaths of patients as they wait to go to the theatre because there is no space.

He noted that there are mothers who lose their babies while waiting to go for operation due to the same reason; few theatre rooms.

“This is just a tip of an iceberg, there are deep-rooted issues in Kenyatta that sometimes happen but the public doesn’t know, for example, the theatres in Kenyatta are few, there are patients who die while waiting to go to the theatre because there is no space. There are mothers who lose their babies while waiting to be operated because there is no space in theatre,” said the KMPDU Chairman.

Dr. Obegi also added many newborns lose their lives due to few incubators and many patients are helplessly waiting for surgeries because they cannot afford to buy implants to fix their bones.

“We lose a number newborns in Kenyatta National Hospital because there are no enough incubators. Many patients are in the ward awaiting surgeries because they can’t afford to buy implants which are needed to fix their bones,” said Obegi.

We are going to see a lot of bad things happening because now the public is aware there is technology.”
