Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union has resolved to review the government offer meant to end the ongoing strike by doctors.
KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Olunga said the union appreciated the offer given by President Uhuru Kenyatta but it needed approval from members.
"We have not reached any agreement but we thank the President for convening the meeting. He was concerned about our issues and we talked at length. We had a fruitful engagement and we appreciated there are challenges. We will have to discuss with our members...what they offered is outside the CBA,” said Olunga.
On Wednesday, President Kenyatta engaged doctors in a day-long meeting in order to reach an agreement to end the strike that has crippled te health sector countrywide.
The doctors were offered a 40 hike, a plan that will see the least paid doctor paid Sh196,989, up from the current Sh140,244.
