The workers held a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday outside KMTC Nakuru campus in solidarity with workers from 37 other KMTC branches, paralysing operations at the college with more than 1,000 students.

The branch top steward, Geoffrey Walewa, accused the management of ignoring a CBS signed with their union in July 2012 to increase each workers' salary, house and leave allowances.

Walewa said that the management had chosen not to honour the agreement despite a court ruling in December 2014 ordering it to honour the deal.

The workers have vowed not to get back to their work station until when the management will addresses their grievances.

The Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospitals Workers union (Kudheiha) had recently issued a strike notice to the KMTC management.
