The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) has explained why a number of class-eight candidates received XX and AB in their recently released KCPE results.
Knec on Friday clarified that the AB and XX were results that came from errors emerging in the candidates’ index numbers.
Through acting CEO Mercy Kagoro, the national examiner said that the said errors included "incorrect shading of index numbers, candidates mixing up index numbers, multiple candidates using the same index numbers and candidates using different index numbers in different subjects".
She however said that parents and affected candidates needed not panic as the markers were currently working on the mistakes.
“When these issues are corrected, the actual results will be updated and so candidates are informed to continue checking their results,” she said.
