This year’s KCPE and KCSE candidates have until April 12 to submit final online applications for exams after the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) extended the online registration period by seven working days.

Knec said in a statement that the extension will cater for schools that were unable to register all their candidates by March 31.

The exam body outlined requirements for uploading candidates’ photographs, to prevent problems encountered in the past stating that the photographs should not be blurred, and should not be taken against a light background.

Instead, they should be upright, with candidates' names printed on the photographs.

Institutional candidates should also upload photographs taken in school uniform.

The Council through its website announced that all repeating candidates in public schools will be required to pay fees required for the national examinations, saying the government will only pay for candidates sitting the exam for the first time.

It has allocated Sh3.4 billion to exams fees for the year.
