Speaking yesterday, MP Richard Tong’i said the Kenya National Examination Council handles the whole process right from setting to marking of the examination. Tong’I said that the examination council is to blame for any irregularities and not the students.

He added that he had raised the matter in parliament that the Kenya National Examinations Council be revamped and its roles be given to another organization.

“KNEC should be overhauled. Some of their roles should be given to another body,” Tong’i said.

He said there was mischief in the cancellation of results of more than 100 candidates at Kisii School and withholding of all results of Nyabururu Girls, and called for investigations into the issue.

Nyaribari Chache politician Zaheer Jhanda however said that the area leaders have not raised the issue with the authorities and are instead only complaining to the media.

“The cancellation of exam results is a major issue and our leaders are not talking about it. Let them go and camp at KNEC until a solution is found,” Jhanda said.
