Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) chief executive officer Mercy Karogo has directed that registered candidates for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams to confirm their uploaded photographs. This should be done by their respective Head Teachers.
“Head teachers should confirm that the photographs uploaded online are of the correct candidates. In case of mismatch in the photographs they should communicate to KNEC in writing,” she said as quoted by Nation.
She said that the verification is important because some Head Teachers did not give their candidates nominal rolls for verification and signing.
“The council has checked all the nominal rolls collected from the field and observed that some examination centers, especially sub county private centers, did not give the nominal rolls to candidates for verification and signing,” she observed.
1.6 million Candidates have registered for the November exams. Approximately one million pupils will seat for the KCPE while 615,284 will handle KCSE.
She has instructed sub-county education directors to check details to avoid inconveniences. Registration has also closed and anyone willing to seat for these exams will have to register next year.
The government paid registration fees for all students. It has also adequately budgeted for the end-year tests.
