An educational lobby is calling upon the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to suspend the release of 2015 KCSE results and address messages purporting that some schools were involved in exam irregularities.

Track One Learners Alliance Protection director Innocent Masara said that Knec must investigate the authors of the messages.

Masara said results should be announced after investigations noting that parents and students who sat for examinations are panicking.

He said Knec only gave a blanket statement dismissing the messages that clearly listed schools whose results will be cancelled due to cheating and other exam irregularities.

“Knec should not dismiss the messages but institute thorough investigations to track down the authors and bring them to book,” he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, Masara said the origin of the messages must be found.

He said the results will not be accepted with open hearts among students, teachers and parents if the matter is not resolved.

“The panic among students, their parents and teachers is too much and it is good for Knec to clear the air by telling Kenyans the origination of those messages,” he said.

Masara called upon police investigation department to conduct a thorough investigation.

He further urged cabinet secretary for education Dr Fred Matiang’i to pick up the matter and see to its conclusion that the authors are apprehended.

“The cabinet minister instead of playing activism with education of our children should address these issues. There are officers in the ministry of education who should be doing these jobs the CS has been jumping over about. Why go to Keveye Girls when we have both TSC and Ministry of Education officers on the ground,” he said.

The results will be announced by Knec on March 3, 2016.
