Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has boosted security in and around the facility as authorities continue to probe patients' rape claims.The hospital's board chairman Mark Bor said Monday the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, after consultations, has agreed to deploy police officers to protect patients at the facility, which is Kenya's largest hospital.He said more private guards have also been deployed to monitor activities in the hospital located on the Southern outskirts of the city."We are taking those allegations seriously and we are doing everything possible to ensure the security of all patients and visitors," Bor said.Last week revelations emerged of a gang of mortuary attendants said to be taking advantage of security lapses at the hospital to terrorize patients especially women who have delivered.The gang, according to women who fell prey, waylay the women late in the night as they go to breastfeed their children.Boinnet and Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu have ordered investigations into the claims.Mailu was expected to receive a report of the probe o Monday.
