The Kenya National Highway Authority has urged motorists to take caution during the rainy period.

The authority has singled out Mombasa-Kilifi-Malindi highway where Mbogolo Bridge near Kilifi town was submerged on Monday.

“Take extreme caution on the road and watch out for possible flooding as several areas of the country continue to receive intensified downpours,” Charles Njogu, KeNHA Corporate affairs manager, said in a statement on Tuesday.

“KeNHA engineers have noticed some slight undermining on the upstream but this cannot be fully established until the water subsides fully. KeNHA urges all motorists to be on high alert, and not to attempt to cross any bridges or sections of the road that are overstepped by water." the statement added.
