Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Chepkoilel branch Secretary general Sammy Bor has faulted the move by opposition leaders to call for rescheduling national examination dates.

He said the move was uncalled for and ill intended.

“We urge the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to conduct the examinations as scheduled. Our children’s future must not be stopped because of an election,” he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

“Postponing the exams for even a day will affect the performance of over 1.6 million candidates. We support the retention of the KNEC proposed dates,” he added.

He reiterated that the students were fully prepared for the tests and should not be shortchanged by self-centered politicians.

“The future of our children is paramount and anyone whatsoever who wants to destroy it should be condemned with the strongest terms possible,” noted Bor.

This comes after the National Super Alliance (NASA) called for the postponement of the national examination for at least two weeks to allow consultations with IEBC.

Standard Eight examinations are set to commence at October 31 and end November 2 and that of form 4 from November 6 - 29.
