The council has now called for an urgent meeting of its top organ on Friday, to deal with simmering differences between the union's bosses.

NEC member Harrison Gichira, told the People Daily  the meeting has been called after the two union bosses publicly differed on many issues in the education sector including the recent changes made by Education CS Fred Matiang'i in a bid to curb exam irregularities.

Mr Gichira, the central Kenya region representative in NEC, said the union losses direction when its bosses talk at cross purposes.

He said Knut is increasingly losing clout among its members, and accused Sossion of alienating Knut from the government of the day.

The official singled out recent contradiction by Sossion on the revision of term dates and examinations calendar by Matiang’i as one of the pronouncements which the secretary has made without consulting.

“Sossion is running the union as personal a property. NEC may take unspecified action against any individual who may rock the union from within,” he added.

Among them is the call by Sossion to its members to boycott Labour Day celebrations, his directive to teachers not to be appraised and his sole pronouncement to join Kanu.
