The teacher's union through its secretary general, Wilson Sossion said the CS never involved key stakeholders before issuing the new reforms in the education sector. Sossion tasked Matiang’i to act with moderation hinting that the Ministry of Education is one of the most sensitive areas in the country.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony, Sossion lamented that the education boss has turned his back against key stakeholders in the sector, a fact he claimed is unacceptable for a seasoned professional like him. The Knut boss further demanded that the government make a speedy move to hire trained teachers to fill the current gap, especially in primary and secondary schools.

In a quick rejoinder, however, Matiang’i fired back at the Knut boss by acknowledging the fact that the government is committed to putting the new guideline to an immediate adoption by all public and private schools within the land.

Regarding consultations, Matiang’i explained that his ministry had done deep consultations with the clergy and various school heads, terming Sossion's sentiments as ill-informed.
