Kenya National Union of Teachers [KNUT] Masaba Branch wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconsider retaining Fred Matiang'i in education docket.

During his latest cabinet nominations, Uhuru appointed Matiang'i as Interior Coordination minister apart from holding him as acting Education minister, a reverse of previous nomination.

"He is a hard working minister and it is our wish to have him within the education docket because he fits there," said Assistant Executive Secretary James Oteki.

He added: "The president should reconsider his decision because we have embarked on serious reforms in the ministry."

Uhuru's changes come at a time Matiang'i had rolled out new trans-formative education system which shall seen learners going through 2-6-6-3 system.

In July last year, uhuru appointed Matiang'i in an acting capacity to the Interior ministry upon the death of Joseph Nkaissery.
