Masaba North KNUT deputy secretary general has warned its members who have reportedly been reporting for duties despite the current standoff between the government and the union over pay increment for teachers.
Also, Mr James Oteki said he had written to his KUPPET counterparts to take disciplinary actions against members who had defied the strike order till the government affects the 50-60 per cent pay increment in compliance to a court order.
Oteki said the KNUT management will consider expunging from the membership or suspending them temporarily with undisclosed fine imposed on them.
“We are really disappointed that some of the teachers are not in solidarity with us we fight the war. They risk losing membership or suspension from the union. I have also informed my KUPPET counterparts because we have intelligence that some of them are violating our directive,” he said.
Mr. Oteki reiterated that the teachers were not against teaching but insisted that TSC ought to honor the court order before they fully embark into their duties.
“We are not against teaching our children and we love the job. All we want is improvement in our teaching conditions. The government must honor the court order and clear our dues,” Oteki added.
His sentiments were supported by the secretary general Meshack Ombongi who told Hivisasa.com on phone who dared teachers who were reportedly on session.
“Let them warn them that they won’t find it easy. This is a do or die war and all members must participate. Those who want to be flower girls should quit from the union,” he said.
