The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), Kisii central secretary Albert Ondimu has called on the Ministry of Education to abolish the Teachers’ Performance and Appraisal Development (TPAD) tool, which they say is a burden to school heads.
Mr. Ondimu says head teachers are spending a lot of time preparing and filing reports instead of striving towards improving education standards.
Mr. Ondimu also called on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to hire more teachers to replace those who have moved to county governments and other fields.
He urged the teachers’ employer to promote teachers who upgraded their qualifications to diploma and degree, some of whom graduated in 2013 but have not been promoted to date.
