Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Eldoret West branch chairman Kipchumba Arusei has applauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing the former Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed as Education Cabinet Secretary.

He said Amb Amina will do a good job because of her experience.

“I want to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing Amina as the Education Cabinet Secretary and as teachers union officials, we are optimistic that she will perform well,” he said in Eldoret town, Sunday.I just want to advise her to be a diplomat and not a dictator just like his predecessor Fred Matiang'i who was doing things without consulting educations stakeholders. She should always consult before coming up with any rules and regulations," he added. He, however, urged all education stakeholders across the country to accord her the support she needs for the improvement of the education sector.“As teachers union officials we will support her fully and we wish her well,” noted Arusei. He urged her to fast-track the process of employing more teachers across the country since the current number is a drop in the ocean.“We want the new Education CS Amina Mohamed in conjunction with Teachers Service Commission to at least be employing 20,000 teachers annually to bridge this shortage since at the moment we have a deficit of over 100,000 teachers across the country,” he said.
