Jemimah Okoth, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) vice chairperson Nyando sub-branch has thanked Nyang'ande zone teachers for voting her to represent teachers at Knut.

She was addressing teachers, pupils and parents at Nyang'ande primary school during education day ceremonies on Friday.

She also pledged to work for teachers and defend their rights at all costs.

She further advised parents to pay any financial requirement to schools so as to make sure their children are confident in class.

"Paying those small fees needed in school boosts the morale of your kids. It makes them confident when being taught. So parents do your job," she said.

She further called for politicians to work hand in hand with teachers for better development.

The education day ceremony was to celebrate best students in various activities like academics.
