The Kenya National Union of teachers Chepkoilel branch secretary general Sammy Bor has urged the national government to suspend the training of teachers for at least three years. He said this will pave way for the trained teachers to be absorbed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)."As a union we want the training of teachers to be suspended until the trained ones are employed," he said in Eldoret town, Sunday."It is sad that some teachers who finished colleges in 2005 are yet to be employed. Why should we train more teachers and yet those trained are unemployed,” he added. He, however, called upon teachers who have not joined unions to do so so that they can aggressively address their grievances."Teachers who are not union members risk losing benefits awarded to members through the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)," noted Bor.He advised parents to spend time with their children during the December long holidays instead of sending them ringworm relatives."This will help parents know the weakness of their children thereafter correct promptly," he said.
