This comes even after another school in Nyamira County, Matutu Adventist, caught fire on Wednesday morning.

The school is situated barely a few kilometres from St Andrews Kaggwa Boys Boarding Primary School which suffered a similar incident on Monday evening.

And now Mr Oteki in a phone interview with this writer, said the commission will help the ministry come up with remedies rather than the minister making ‘roadside’ pronouncements.

‘I just want to challenge the Cabinet secretary to set up a commission of inquiry to establish the causes of the rampant unrest in our schools rather than making roadside pronouncements in form of threats,” he said.

“We want an amicable solution to these predicaments because it is a matter of concern to many parents. We want to avoid a scenario where our children will get burnt in dormitories yet we are at a position of coming up with good recommendations for implementations,” he added.

Among the schools that have witnessed fire incidents in a period of less than a fortnight include: Itierio Boys, Naikuru Secondary, Tengecha Boys and St Andrews Kaggwa.
