The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) now says it is ready to work with anybody who will be appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the Education ministry.
KNUT Eldoret East branch Executive Secretary Sammy Bor has however asked the head of state to look for a suitable replacement who will work to better the work of Dr. Fred Matiang'i who was was on Friday moved to the Interior Ministry as a substantive Cabinet Secretary.
Matiang'i, however, remains the acting Education CS until his replacement will be named.
"Whether Matiang'i is retained or taken to another docket is not an issue but if the President decides to move him, then we need a suitable replacement who will do the same work like his predecessor or even improve," Bor said in Eldoret on Monday.
"...we are however ready to work with anybody who will be appointed in the ministry as that is the responsibility of the President," he added.
After Matiang'i was named Interior CS, a docket he has been holding on an acting capacity since the sudden death of Joseph Nkaisseri, it has been widely expected that the education ministry will have a new face.
The CS who has been credited for the reforms in the education sector has already thanked the President for reassigning him.
"I thank His Excellency President @UKenyatta for retaining me in his Cabinet and for reassigning my duties. I am humbled by the faith and trust he has bestowed upon me, and pledge to do my best by the grace of God to contribute to the delivery of the #BigFourPlan," wrote Matiang'i on his official Twitter account on January 6, 2018.
